Lead paint testing & removal
Leaded Paint Survey
Lead paint is common in older buildings, especially on structural steelwork. We sample and test it before your works begin, and arrange removal by a fully licensed specialist contractor where needed.
Information on leaded paint
Lead pigments were common in paint until the 1960s and were not removed from all commonly used paints until the early 1980s, so lead is often hidden under later coats.
Structural steel in factories, warehouses, schools and offices was commonly protected with red lead primer, often concealed behind ceilings and boxing.
Intact paint is usually low risk, but sanding, cutting, welding or blasting releases toxic dust and fumes, so paintwork and steelwork should be tested before work begins.
